Running the NYC Marathon for Health Equity (Yes, I'm fundraising).


I woke up today with the desire to challenge myself in a new way. I have never been a runner. In fact, I hate running. When the mood randomly strikes me to work out, I always prefer strength training (lifting weights) over the idea of doing cardio. My husband, on the other hand, is a real athlete. He runs at least 4 to 5 times per week, and although he frequently invites me to run with him, I always decline. Today, I took him up on the offer. We ran (well, I mostly speed walked) 5 miles today. I felt accomplished. Somehow, that small moment of success resulted in me tapping into my professional network, signing up to fundraise $3K for AIRnyc, and buying some overpriced, new sneakers to motivate myself to commit to a training schedule. So, I'm running the NYC Marathon (all 26 miles) to help an amazing organization that is working to achieve health equity!
